Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 2.0

OverviewYamaha R15
was thefirst affordable sports bike in Indiawhich shared most of the styling bits with Yamaha’s much expensive bikes from R series. The looks and performance of this bike made it famous instantly and looking at its popularity and rising competition, Yamaha launched the second version of this bike – R15 Version 2.0. For 2016 Yamaha has introduced 3 new shades for the R15 V2.0 - Revving Blue, Adrenaline Red, Sparky Green. The company has discontinued the GP Blue Edition, Streaking Cyan Special Edition, Grid Gold Edition and Racing Blue Edition and they are no longer available inthe showrooms.Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 featuresall-new designfor engine fairing, new design for alloy wheels, split seat which is now better cushioned, new graphics and decals, fatter rear tyre - 130/70 - R17, bigger 220mm rear disc for better braking, all-new LED tail lamp which looks much better than 2010 model of YZF-R15,new ECU mappingfor better pick-up and fuel efficiency, weight increased by 5kgs (now it weighs 136kgs), new design for saree guard and mudguard plus new design for the silencer/exhaust pipe.

Design & Style
Yes, Yamaha has made some noticeable changes in R15 Version 2.0 but if you are searching for them at its front then you will be disappointed. Apart from thewiderfront tyre and darker visor, there is nothing else which differentiates it with the earlier version. Only when you move to the side of this bike then you can notice the major changes which make thisbike look extremely cool and sporty than before. The middle cowl in the full size fairing has been redesigned to improve the aerodynamics of this bike which also manages to impress you visually. Moreover you can notice the aluminium swing arm at the back which is first in any Indian bike. The bike also gets new silencer with carbon finishing and a nameplate on it. The rear section of the bike is much improved and looks much sporty than any of its competitor. Thefatty rear tyre(130/70) is a welcome feature which was needed desperately inthis bike. It features new split seat, sareeguard and mud guard. However, the triangular LED tail light could have been better. The new tail cowl is also appealing and comes without any kind of grab rail.

Engine & Gearbox
Sadly, there are no changes in this department which means the bike is still powered by the liquid cooled 4-stroke 149.8cc engine. It’s a mono cylinder, 4-Valve; SOHC engine which is designed to pump out a power of16.8 bhp at 8500 rpmwith utmost torque production of15 Nm available at 7500 rpm. This engine is equipped with a six speed gearbox with one gear down and five gears up- shift pattern.

Acceleration and Performance
More or less, the feel and throttle response of this engine is same to that ofthe outgoing model. Yamaha has slightly tweaked the engine which is hardly noticeable due to its additional weight of around 4kgs. The initial gear ratios make it perfect for daily usage. Its only when you go pass 6000rpm then you can noticethe slow behaviour of this engine. However there are no vibrations till 8500rpm and the refinement level is also very satisfactory but the high end performance of the engine indicates at itslower displacement. The bike has become faster than before and does0-100km/hour in just above 13 seconds. One can reach the top speed of 130km/hour with this bike but while doingso, it may not feel as eager as most of itscompetitors. The high end performance isnowhere near to Bajaj Pulsar 220 and Honda CBR 250R.

Mileage
In city conditions, the mileage of R15 ranges from30-35 kmplwhile on highwaysone can expect anything around 40-45 kmpl.

Instrumnet Console
Itshares its instrument console with the outgoing version. It has a round pod for its analogue tachometer while it features a digital speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer with other LED indicators. The blue back light looks funky at night but could have been darker in colour.

Comfort While Riding
Yamaha R15 isknown for its sporty stancewhich was never offered before in any premium bike in India. The aerodynamic design of the bike allows the rider to bend forward with knees rolled back in perfect position. With its low seating, one can easily find a firm hold on this bike which gives you the confidence to rule the road which is absent on bikes like Pulsar and Hero Karizma ZMR. New seat isalso very comfortable with foot pegs being placed much behind than normal. The clips on handle are nice and convenient to hold and the overall feel while you drive this bike is magnificent.

Safety Features
The dual headlights of R15 Version 2.0 allow you to get a clear view of roads at night and confirms you safe driving.

Suspension
Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 has the sametelescopic forks at its frontwith linked type mono-shocker at its back. The bike takes most of the bumps with ease and feels free to cross most of the speed breakers and potholes without any complain. The suspension system confirmsthat the high seated pillion rider also get stress free and comfortable ride.

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V (STD)

Overview
TVS has officially unveiled the Apache RTR 200 4V (based on Draken concept) in India. It is powered by an air-cooled engine with an oil-cooler, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. There are 2 engine options: Carbureted and Fuel Injected. The carbureted version generates 20.23 BHP power with 18.1 NM torque. The fuel injected model develops 20.73 BHP power with 18.1 NM of torque

The Standard/Base model of Apache 200 is equipped with non-Fi engine, without ABS and with TVS tyres, is priced at Rs. 88,990 (ex-showroom Delhi). The EFi model equipped with a fuel-injected engine, with Pirellli tyres is expected to be priced at Rs. 1.08 lakhs. The top-spec model with a fuel-injected engine, Pirellli tyres, and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), is expected to be priced at Rs. 1.15 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

Design and Style
TVS Apache, the performance nameplate comes with a new addition to its ever evolving RTR family. Maintaining the flow with the current design language, the Apache RTR 200 4V comes with a naked street fighter design and presents a whole new generation of motorcycles from TVS. The overall profile of the bike has been kept the same as the older Apache variants, matching their side profile but it is now more aggressive and appealing.

It seems as if TVS has picked the older Apache and mixed few of the parts with the Draken concept in order to come up with the new offering. Well, this is a good news for the Draken fans as viewing a white RTR 200 4V seems as if you are looking at the favorite concept from the company.

The changes on the visual part of the Apache RTR 200 4V are considerably visible. Starting with its front view, the new Apache has lost the small windscreen and got itself a more aggressive pair of DRLs than the last generation's beast eye DRLs. The edgy lights are exactly what a naked bike needs, further boosting its overall angry stance. The front suspension has been painted Golden and all-new double barrel exhaust muffler is painted in Black. The other attraction is its differently designed, Draken inspired 10-spoke alloy wheels and the extended tank cowls.

These 2 features would pull all the Draken fans into the Apache team and provide a real life version for their dream concept (Draken X-21). Coming to its side profile, the Apache RTR 200 4V comes with a step up seat and a new exhaust system, meeting emission standards of the future via a 2-stage catalytic converter. The overall looks are great and good pricing has made it a good value for money motorcycle.

Instrument Console
A fully digital, pentagonal shaped instrument console has been fitted to the new Apache RTR 200 4V. The console starts exactly where the cover for the headlight ends, providing no fairing for the instrument screen. The display is good for a speedometer, trip-meter, tachometer, odometer, current gear display, clock, fuel gauge and lap timing. Below the screen, you will see the turn indicator LED's, ABS light, low fuel warning, high beam indicator and the neutral light.

Engine and Gearbox
The new Apache uses a 197.75 cc, single cylinder, oil cooled engine which is a bored out version of its 180cc sibling. There is also an option to get fuel injection (BOSCH) at an additional cost. The engine was expected to have a killing performance with around 25 BHP and 22 NM of torque whereas the actual figures reveal a different story.

The carburetor fed motor produces just 20.23 BHP (15.09 KW) @ 8500 rpm and 18.1 NM @ 7,000 rpm. The fuel-injected engine develops maximum power of 20.73 BHP (15.46 KW) @ 8500 rpm and maximum torque of and 18.1 NM @ 7,000 rpm. The gearbox is a 5-speed unit for both options.

Performance & Top Speed
The RTR 200 4V takes 3.95/3.90 seconds for a 0-60 kmph sprint and 12.0 seconds for a 0-100 kmph sprint, providing the rider with a top speed of 128 kmph for non-fi model and 129 km

Dimensions and Weight
The overall length, width and height values of Apache 200 are 2050 mm x 790 mm x 1015 mm. The ground clearance is 180mm and seat height stands at 800mm. The wheelbase is 1353mm and fuel tank capacity is just 12 litres. The kerb weight of RTR 200 is 148 kg (non-Fi model) and 148.5 kg (for Efi model). The maximum payload is 130 kgs.

Brakes and Suspension
The Apache wins in the braking section with its dual channel ABS option, which is not even offered in the premium 200cc KTM bikes. The feature can save you anytime when the roads are bad and safety should not be compromised on the Indian roads.

The front and rear comes with petal disc brakes (270 mm for the front and 240 mm for the rear) whereas the tyres on the new Apache have been upgraded for a better grip. The front uses standard telescopic forks for the suspension duties whereas a mono-shock has been used for the rear.

Tyres
Apache 200 comes equipped with 90/90-R17 tyre at front and 130/70-R17 rear tyre, both of them are TVS's Remora tyres. There is also an option to get Pirelli tyres at an additional cost of INR 10,000.

Shades
The new Apache RTR 200 4V is offered in 7 attractive shades (5 Matte options and 2 Gloss options):Matte Red, Matte Black, Matte Yellow, Matte Grey, Matte White, Gloss White, and Gloss Black.

Variants & Ex-showroom Price
TVS has not updated the official website of Apache 200 with complete price-list, and the list of variants. The bike is expected to be available in total 8 variants:

Carb engine + TVS Tyres - Rs. 89,000
Carb engine + Pirelli Tyres - Rs. 99,000
Carb engine + TVS Tyres + ABS - Rs. 96,000
Carb engine + Pirelli Tyres + ABS - Rs. 1,06,000
Fi engine + TVS Tyres - 98,000
Fi engine + Pirelli Tyres - 1,08,000
Fi engine + TVS Tyres + ABS - 1,05,000
Fi engine + Pirelli Tyres + ABS - Rs. 1,15,000
As per the details available, the cost of fuel-injection is Rs. 9000, the cost of ABS is Rs. 7000 and you can get the Pirelli tyres for Rs. 10,000.

Verdict
The design speaks cleanly for itself, mixing the blend of a concept naked motorcycle with the practical everyday usability of an Apache series motorcycle. Medium power values would facilitate a better mileage figure whereas practical rear seat height would increase the pillion comfort. The Apache is a great option if you are not into the 0-100 sprint game as it would keep your pocket full of money for more kilometers than the fuel burners of the 200cc segment.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4(2016)

The latest in a line of otherworldly supercars that includes the Miura, Countach, Diablo and Murcielago, the Aventador is Lamborghini's technology- and performance-packed flagship. Stupefyingly quick, aggressively angular and awe-inspiring in a deeply primal way, it's also more comfortable and refined than its feral predecessors.

Underneath its attention-grabbing stealth jet/alien snubfighter exterior, the Aventador is underpinned by a carbon-fiber chassis that teams with a number of other carbon and aluminum components throughout the car to keep weight down. These measures help the Aventador tip the scales at about 200 pounds lighter than its predecessor, although at just over 4000 pounds it still isn't exactly dainty.

Concerns about weight - and most other rational thoughts - are extinguished once one experiences the Aventador's operatic and absurdly potent V12. Displacing 6.5 liters and boasting a lofty 8500 redline, this beast of a motor makes 691 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm.

When you couple that much power with the car's Haldex all-wheel-drive system, what you get is a zero-to-62 mph time of just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph. These figures put the Aventador proudly atop the Lamborghini range and easily in the company of the most impressive supercars in the world.

Fuel economy is likely the last thing on the mind of anyone considering a Lamborghini, but the automaker added two new technologies for the latest model year in the interests of efficiency and the environment.

The first, a start-stop system that shuts down the engine to save fuel at traffic lights or in stop-and-go traffic, is a supercapacitor-based system that's both lighter and faster to restart the motor than a traditional battery-based system. The second is a cylinder deactivation system that shuts down half of the V12's cylinders during light-throttle situations, temporarily turning the motor into a straight-six. When the driver lays into the throttle, the other six cylinders fire back up for full power.

Despite those technologies, there's only so much they can do to enhance the mileage of the inherently thirsty V12 - fuel economy is rated at 11 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.

Shifting duties are handled by a seven-speed single-clutch automated manual gearbox that Lamborghini refers to as a robotized Independent Shifting Rods (ISR) transmission. Capable of blasting from gear to gear in just 50 milliseconds, it can be a bit herky-jerky at low speeds and isn't as refined overall as the dual-clutch boxes used by some competitors. Lamborghini said it opted to use the ISR to save weight over a dual-clutch unit.

Helping transfer all 691 horsepower to the ground at all four corners are two different tires and wheel sizes - 255/35/R19 for front wheels and tires, with massive 335/30R20 wheels and tires for the rear. Stopping the big Lambo are 400x38m six-piston carbon ceramic brakes in the front, and 380x38mm carbon ceramic brakes in the rear.

Get the Aventador out to an empty, winding road, and the supercar will impress with its superb engine, accurate steering and excellent overall balance, though its girth prevents it from feeling truly nimble.

Standard tech is in
Standard features are quite extensive, including electronic control goodies such as ABS, EBD, ASR, ESC, a hill holder function, an electronically controlled rear spoiler, an electronically controlled side air intake system, servotronic and an integrated command with three different driving modes that integrate the gearbox, differential, engine response and servotronic simultaneously.

Interior and vehicle standard features include: Push to Start/Stop button, keyless ignition, full TFT displays in the cockpit, on-board computer, multimedia system with seven-inch display, iPod and USB interface, navigation, Bluetooth, bi-xenon headlights with washer, LED daytime running lights, automatic air conditioning with solar sensor, crepuscular and rain sensors andelectrically adjustable and heated side mirrors with folding function.

Lamborghini also introduce is a new suspension system uses pushrod technology, inspired by Formula 1 racing. It functions by locating the springs and dampers no on wheel mounts, but rather inboard to the body shell. The end result when coupled with the double wishbone suspension is precise handling in dynamic driving conditions, but almost luxury-like comfort when cruising.

Occupant Safety
All Aventador models come standard with dual front, front side and front knee airbags in addition to traction and stability control systems.
